Powering the Intelligence Economy: IGC at the Hong Kong Family Office and High Net Worth Conference
On September 8, 2026, Infinite Grid Capital (IGC) participated as Strategic Sponsor of the Hong Kong Family Office & High Net Worth Annual Conference by DC Finance at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.
The event brought together over 150 family office representatives, investors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to explore AI infrastructure, energy transition, global investment opportunities, and the evolving priorities of family capital.
For IGC, the conference highlighted two interconnected themes: the growing demand for energy infrastructure to support AI development and the increasing role of long-term capital in financing this transition.
Energy Transition & AI Infrastructure: The Time-to-Power Challenge
The conference opened with a panel moderated by IGC CEO and General Partner Frank Liu, featuring Steve Bond, President of NeoVolta Power; Carl Wang, Head of North America Sales at LONGi Energy Storage; Gang Lin, Founder & CEO of Marvel-Tech; and Alfred Wong, Partner, Energy Transition Investment at Templewater.
The discussion addressed a fundamental challenge: AI is advancing faster than the infrastructure needed to power it.
While AI models can evolve within months, developing power infrastructure can take years. Grid connection delays, equipment shortages, and growing electricity demand are creating significant challenges for data centre development.
As Alfred Wong emphasized,
"Time to power is really the gating factor for the buildout."
Gang Lin explained how on-site gas generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS) can work together to address this challenge. Gas generation provides stable electricity, while BESS responds to rapid fluctuations in AI workloads. Integrated through microgrid technologies, these systems can provide bridge power while data centres await permanent grid connections.
The panel also explored the importance of localized manufacturing and regulatory compliance. Steve Bond highlighted NeoVolta's approach to building a FEOC-compliant business in the US, including its new battery manufacturing facility in Georgia, scheduled to celebrate its grand opening in September.
The discussion reinforced a central point: the next generation of AI infrastructure requires more than individual technologies. It requires the integration of generation, storage, manufacturing, project development, and capital.
Investing in the Infrastructure Behind AI
Following the panel, IGC Director of Investor Relations Tim Yau presented The Challenges of Building AI Infrastructure at Scale.
His keynote examined the physical infrastructure required to support AI expansion, from electricity generation and storage to grid capacity and project financing.
For IGC, this is where its speed-to-power strategy comes into focus: combining on-site generation, BESS, and microgrid solutions to accelerate power delivery for AI data centres.
The conference also featured an IGC-led roundtable exploring how family offices can participate in AI infrastructure through direct investments, co-investments, and specialized investment platforms.
Where Is Asia's Family Capital Going Next?
In the afternoon, IGC Marketing & Communications Director Anastasia Sukhoretskaya moderated a panel featuring Kitty Liu, Co-founder of Adream Foundation and former Head of CICC Global Family Office; Lorna Chen, Regional Head of Funds and Asset Management at A&O Shearman; and Sean Xiang, Founder & CEO of Hermitage Capital.
The discussion explored how Asian family offices are adapting to business globalization, cross-border investment opportunities, technological innovation, and generational wealth transfer.
Kitty Liu emphasized the importance of understanding the operating businesses behind family wealth. Lorna Chen highlighted the growing influence of regulatory frameworks and investment structures on cross-border capital allocation, while Sean Xiang shared perspectives on long-term technology and AI investment opportunities.
Together, their insights highlighted the evolving role of family offices as strategic allocators of long-term capital.
A Fireside Conversation with Chemist Warehouse Founder Jack Gance
Another highlight of the conference was a fireside chat between IGC CEO and General Partner Frank Liu and Jack Gance, Founder of Chemist Warehouse, one of Australia's largest pharmacy retailers.
The conversation brought an entrepreneurial perspective to the conference, complementing the day's discussions on infrastructure investment, family capital, and long-term business development.
The conference also featured a virtual discussion with Tal Kerret, President of Silverstein Properties, exploring long-term capital and the development and operation of major real estate assets, including the World Trade Center.
Connecting Technology, Infrastructure, and Capital
The conference provided an opportunity for IGC to connect with family offices, investors, and industry partners across Asia and beyond.
As AI continues to drive demand for electricity and energy storage, the ability to bring together technology, capital, and project execution will become increasingly important.
IGC remains focused on developing integrated energy infrastructure solutions to support the next generation of AI data centres and high-demand industries.
