Glenarm BESS Moves into Construction in Pasadena, California
Construction has begun on the 25 MW / 100 MWh Glenarm Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Pasadena, California, a project invested in and developed by Infinite Grid Capital (IGC).
As Pasadena’s first utility-scale battery storage system, Glenarm will store excess daytime solar energy and deliver electricity during evening peak demand. With four hours of storage capacity, the project will help strengthen local grid reliability and support Pasadena’s goal of sourcing 100% carbon-free electricity by 2030.
On October 7, IGC joined Pasadena Water and Power (PWP), state and city officials, and project partners to celebrate the construction milestone. The event featured State Senator Sasha Renée Pérez, Assemblymember John Harabedian, Pasadena Mayor Victor M. Gordo, Councilmember Jason Lyon, Interim City Manager Matthew E. Hawkesworth and PWP General Manager David Reyes.
For IGC, the start of construction marks an important step in the project’s development. It reflects the team’s development and financing capabilities, alongside its ability to work with municipalities, utilities and project partners to advance energy infrastructure.
The milestone also follows PWP’s receipt of the 2026 Green Power Leadership Award for Impactful Procurement, recognizing the utility’s work to advance Pasadena’s clean-energy transition through its procurement strategy and investments in renewable energy and storage.
IGC thanks the PWP team, the City of Pasadena and all project partners whose work and commitment have helped bring Glenarm to this stage. With completion expected in mid-2027, we look forward to sharing further progress as construction continues.
