IGC Expands into Latvia with 45 MW BESS Portfolio
IGC-backed SIA Baltic Energy Reserve has signed a share purchase agreement with SIA Solar Energy Fund relating to a portfolio of battery energy storage system (BESS) development projects in Riga.
The portfolio consists of three development-stage projects with secured land rights and grid connection permits, representing approximately 45 MW of planned connection capacity.
Latvia and the wider Baltic region are entering a critical phase of power system transformation, driven by increasing renewable energy penetration, evolving grid conditions, and growing demand for flexibility and reliability. Battery energy storage is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting grid stability and system resilience.
The projects form part of Infinite Grid Capital’s broader European activity. IGC is an energy infrastructure investment platform focused on the development, financing, and long-term ownership of utility-scale assets across key power markets. In Latvia, IGC is building a presence in energy storage and working with local partners to support the development of grid-scale BESS aligned with long-term system needs.
Further details will be shared in due course as the projects progress.
